After another walk-through of our expanded space and an extremely productive meeting with our contractor and property manager, we are so excited to say that we cut construction costs considerably!

The one thing about making a space for artists is that it has to be a maker space, not a showroom! That little detail packs a big punch as far as walls coming down and digging up floors.

We have refigured our uses of the space and are able to leave more of the floor plan as-is. There is water and drainage where we need it and there are outlets where we need to plug in. Yay! Those two things make everything more doable at a lower cost.

Plus, we have decided to leave some walls intact with their swing doors instead of altering them to replace with pocket doors. We are taking down a couple more walls than expected; ones where we were planning on altering to add more pocket doors.

Now, a couple of hours since the last revision, we are excited to say that we are decreasing our financial goal for fundraising to reflect this reduction in costs. We do need support for this expansion and we are grateful to have such a fabulous community rallying around our growth.
