Upon retirement I was looking forward to renewing my interest in art classes, especially hand-building in clay, which I loved in college and never had time for during my career. I had no idea how lucky I’d be to find Rachelle’s pottery workshops. She is the best instructor I’ve ever worked with. She’s inspiring, talented, knowledgeable and fun. I look forward to each class and the projects we make or the excellent advice she gives me when I fall down a rabbit hole and strike out on one of my own wonky projects. She’s kind, encouraging, creative and a true artist and lovely person. I love our class time. Thanks, Boss.

After big changes in my life I was forced to stop marking art. Emotional and financial hardship left me with no time or motivation. 6 months ago I moved to Polk County and started looking for a creative group to belong too. And I stumbled with Rachelle's ad on instagram and just knew right there I had to try it. I am so overly thankful for this. I really different mediums but I like clay the most. Thank you Rachelle for what you do and given us the chance to 'belong'.

Pottery Class FAQ's

Questions from Experienced Potters (and Thoughtful Beginners)

Q. I already have experience with clay. Do I still need to take Dig Deep?

A. Yes, and not because you’re a beginner.

Dig Deep is how you step into how we teach, how we approach form and surface, and how our classes function as a whole.

Even experienced potters find that it refines their process and helps them integrate more fully into the studio.

Q. Will I be repeating things I already know?

A. Some foundational techniques may feel familiar—but the focus is different.

We emphasize intention, structure, and long-term development rather than quick outcomes.
Many experienced potters find they gain new insight from revisiting fundamentals in this way.

Q. Do you offer advanced classes?

Yes.

Advanced and technique-specific classes are part of our membership experience and are not widely advertised.

Inside the studio, students continue into more complex work, including surface design, color clay techniques, sculptural development, and personal project exploration.

Q. Can I skip ahead into membership if I have experience?

We begin everyone with Dig Deep so we can build a shared foundation and maintain strong class dynamics.

From there, students may be invited into membership based on readiness and fit within the studio environment.

Q. Is this a good fit if I’m looking to grow beyond beginner work?

Yes.

Our studio is designed for ongoing development, not one-time experiences.
If you’re looking for structure, guidance, and a place to continue evolving your work, you’ll find that here.

Q. What makes your studio different from open studio spaces?

We are a teaching studio first.

Rather than simply providing space, we offer ongoing instruction, thoughtful progression, and a curated class environment that supports both skill-building and creative growth.
